The text builds on a strong chronologically ordered narrative with extensive use of primary and secondary sources to build an understanding of the emergence of modern India from the colonial through to the 21st century. In doing so, it examines the emergence of nationalism, independence, partition, Congress rule and India as it enters the 21st century.
